Official visit of the French Ambassador in Žilina

On Wednesday, 23 April 2025, Nicolas Suran, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France to the Slovak Republic, visited Barracks 5. He is the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France to the Slovak Republic. He was accompanied during the visit by Didier Rogasik, Attaché for Press and Culture, and Grégory Delton, Honorary Consul of France for Central Slovakia.
The distinguished guests were received by the Regimental Commander, Colonel Peter Žochňák, and the Deputy Commander of the 5th Special Forces Regiment, Major Matej Martvon, who briefed them on the unit's history, mission, and current tasks. During the working meeting, they discussed the possibilities of bilateral cooperation in education and professional exchanges between members of the special forces of both countries.
As part of the programme, new capabilities of the canine unit (K9) were presented to the delegation. A key highlight of the visit was the opportunity to observe a marksmanship training demonstration at the unit's firing range, in which the Ambassador and other members of the delegation actively participated.
The official visit was concluded with a working lunch where participants continued to discuss prospects for future cooperation informally.
