Our men in Greek waters

From 31 March to 11 April 2025, a Joint Combined Exchange Training (JCET) exercise was hosted by the Greek Naval Special Forces (Z MAK) at the Special Forces Training Base in Nea Peramos, Greece. This was the second JCET exercise in which combat divers from the 5th Special Forces Regiment had participated at the invitation of the foreign partner.
The Slovak contingent was represented by two teams of combat divers who collaborated closely with their Greek counterparts during the training. Training focused on specialised activities such as underwater navigation, diving in strong currents and subsequent corrections, night diving, and tactical reconnaissance and security of coastal areas. All activities were carried out using a closed-circuit breathing apparatus (rebreather).
Individual training tasks were carried out in dynamic conditions, with each deployment preceded by thorough planning and followed by detailed analysis and evaluation. This training method significantly increases the operational readiness of Special Operations Forces (SOF) members while facilitating the exchange of knowledge and validation of tactical procedures between partners.
International JCET exercises are an important tool for developing interoperable capabilities, enhancing mutual trust, and providing a platform for professional discussion and the practical alignment of operational techniques.
The closing ceremony symbolised the successful completion of the training and demonstrated the mutual respect, esteem and willingness to continue cooperating on both sides.
